Rev. Scott M. White
CALLED PASTOR

The Rev. Scott M. White is a graduate of Columbia Theological Seminary, was ordained Minister of Word and Sacrament by the Presbytery of Greater Atlanta, and has served 20 years as installed pastor at congregations in Michigan and Oklahoma. He comes to The Kirk with deep appreciation for its witness, service, fellowship and ministry. Scott and Miriam have been married 31 years and are the proud parents of three young adults. Two small dogs and regular guests round out the family home. You might see Scott on his bike in the Red Bridge area, at a local gym, or enjoying the Blue River trails.

Cathy Broockerd
ASSISTANT ADMINISTRATOR

The Assistant Administrator position is a part-time staff position, with Cathy acting as a liaison between staff, session, committee moderators, and volunteers.
Cathy has been a key leader within our staff for 23 years, and retired in 2018. We asked her to return to act as recent Transition Coordinator and now as Assistant Administrator because of her deep knowledge of our church and team.

Alyssa Lyerla
OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR
Alyssa joined The Kirk staff as the office administrator in March 2024. With a warm smile and heart for service, she welcomes members and visitors to the church and ensures the smooth running of admirative operations. Alyssa loves building connections within the church community and is passionate about serving it.
She and her husband, Mike, have been active members of The Kirk since 2017. Together, they are proud parents of two boys and enjoy being part of the vibrant church family.

Michelle Phillips
DIRECTOR OF CHRISTIAN EDUCATION & CONGREGATIONAL MINISTRIES

Michelle (Mich) Phillips joined The Kirk in December of 2018. She comes with years of experience in local churches and work on the Presbytery, Synod and National levels of the Presbyterian Church (USA). Over the years, her passion has become sharing the joy and excitement that faith brings to all. She loves creating fun, and maybe a little unusual, learning environments to bring folks into a new and deeper relationship with God.
Michelle is married to Eddie and together they have twin boys William and Shawn. As a family they love going to Worlds of Fun, jumping on trampolines and watching movies in and out of the movie theater.

James Levy
DIRECTOR OF MUSIC

Originally from Prairie Village, Kansas, James has served as the Director of Music at The Kirk since 2010. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of Kansas and has been involved in worship music for most of his life. Outside of The Kirk, he teaches Middle School Vocal Music in the Blue Valley School District and serves as the Artistic Director of the non-profit organization, Kansas City A Cappella. Additionally he serves as Music Director for several musical productions a year through various theatre companies including Shawnee Mission Theatre In The Park, The Barn Players Community Theatre, and Olathe Civic Theatre.

Accompanist
Lyndell earned his bachelor's degree in Church and Choral Music from Olivet Nazarene University, followed by graduate work in Music Theory and Composition at Illinois State University. Since 1977 he has lived in the south Kansas City area, plying his craft with several publishers, schools, and churches. Along the way, he and his wife Barb raised three children to adulthood, and now enjoy their four grandchildren.
Since the beginning of 2022 Lyndell has served at The Kirk, where he enjoys his collaboration with the staff and members who are endeavoring to maintain the church's standard of excellence in music, worship, and service to the community.
